I couldn't find a book club in Maple Ridge so I thought I'd start my own. I have a bookshelf full of half read books and thought maybe if I had a little motivation, I could get those books read. If you are like me and like to read, and to discuss literature and to just sit around and drink coffee, I believe this group is for you. We read a variety of genres, always trying something new.
This Club is for women 19 and over who are interested in reading one book per month and meeting regularly once per month at restaurants, pubs, and each other's homes to socialize, rate wines, and discuss the book. Some extra events may occur throughout the month that relate only to wine or books. Diverse backgrounds welcome as they make for interesting points of view. A meeting in New Westminster every second Tuesday at 8 pm, with stories ready for critiquing by a valiant band of fellow, aspiring scribes. The mission is to get us writers out of our chairs (or into our chairs, rather) and put pen to paper. And moreover, to get our work primed and ready for publication. Plenty of great writers knew each other from their own writers' groups (Ginsberg, Kerouac and Burroughs anyone?) and there is a reason why they became great. Because they challenged each other. …
This is a group for fans of the horror genre living in and around Vancouver. We get together to enjoy and discuss genre culture and entertainment, including movies, TV, books, music, graphic novels, magazines, art, etc. We attend horror-themed events like movie nights, book club, concerts, shows, conventions, dance parties, ghost tours, and other attractions.

The Oracle Writers Group is dedicated to free discussion and idea sharing amongst professional and aspiring writers. Proofreading, critiquing, skill building, and creative exercises are some of many activities the group partakes in. Fiction and non-fiction are the primary focuses of the group.
