We are a group of black women who love to read, want to read more and meet like minded women. We are here to inspire women to read, share literature, fellowship, and encourage others in the joy of reading. We meet in Tempe on the second Sunday of the month from 3pm to 5pm. We are an eclectic group of women and so are our reading selections. On our web site www.mochagirlsread.wordpress.com we have a inspirational book of the month posted every first Sunday; a children's book posted every Monday a …
Do you love books for real women with a sense of humor? Do you love reading but don't want the pressure of reading a specific book every month? Do you want a positive, non-judgemental, open and comfortable group to discuss a variety of books? Are you looking for recommendations of books to read? Do you want to share opinions and insights on books you have read with a warm and accepting group? If you answer yes to any of these questions, then this is the group for you!
I obtained this book club idea from a meetup group I was a member of in Durham, North Carolina that I miss terribly. We read and discussed a book, but we always selected a restaurant that continued the theme (setting or main characters). We would also select books that were turned into movies and read the book first and then go see the movie. This book club welcomes men and women who are avid readers because it is a joy to hear a wide range of opinions regarding books.
Join us if you are interested in broadening your horizons. We'll be reading fiction one month and non-fiction the next.
Meetup details are available only to members.
My husband is balder now, thanks to my love of classic fiction and my inability to keep quiet about it. In an effort to maintain marital peace (and perhaps to keep a few threads of hair attached to his poor head), I decided to start a book discussion group centered on classic novels. The purpose of the group, then, will be to dive into the worlds created by some of history's most famous authors: Steinbeck, Twain, Austin, Dostoevsky, and, of course, Dickens, just to name a few. If you also e …

What makes our book club different from all of the others? Well, it's because our authors are in attendance to discuss their book and to answer questions. We meet the first Tuesday of the month at 6pm. Our meeting place is Barnes & Noble at Pima and Shea, located in the Fiesta Shopping Center, 10500 N. 90th St., Scottsdale, Arizona.
Hello Graphic Bibliophiles! If you have already joined, thank you and WELCOME to the missing dimension! You won't regret it. If you haven't joined yet, I hope you do. We have a good time. What is a graphic novel? The simpler answers include (1) a form of independent comics, (2) a longer-form but non-ongoing-series comic book, or (3) a novel-length sequential art narrative that treats subject(s) similar to those of other novels of both fiction and nonfiction. When will we meet? Thirds Thursdays …

There are a lot of writer and literary groups out there! We are a smaller group that focuses a little more closely on personal and creative growth in our writing. We welcome you to check us out! Our Motto: "Assist, not assault!" We meet on the first and third Wednesdays each month at 7pm at Arrowhead Barnes & Noble and operate through cooperative critiquing. Rather than read aloud at meetings, we exchange submitted work with a week's time for review, which we then discuss during the meet-up. T …

Want to get intrigued? Let's read notable women writers of mystery, suspense/thriller, and detective/crime fiction, from the classic works of Agatha Christie to the "modern" novels of other well or perhaps lesser known authors. Then let's discuss each book we've read (and whatever else comes up!) during a monthly dinner. You can have a look at a list of the books we've read so far here (http://tinyurl.com/7vcw6eq).

The sad truth is that most people who call themselves Christian do not study the Bible regularly, extensively, deeply or independently. While sad, this fact is not necessarily surprising. Most people lead lives that are taken up with the business of living: going to work, raising children, cooking meals and mowing the lawn, all of which is important and good (Titus 3:14) When all that work is done they watch TV, go to movies or perhaps read popular novels. If they own a Bible, it may very well s …
