This is an attempt to see how many people in San Francisco are as big fantasy novel lovers as I am and if they want to get together once or twice a month to do a book club. Some of my favorite authors are Tolkien, Eddings, Goodkind, Jordan, Butcher, Ann Marston, and my personal fantasy writer god is Guy Gavriel Kay. So, join up if you're interested. I'd love to schedule a first book club meeting sometime in mid February. Ideas for places to meet? A restaurant, coffee shop?

A few of us (well, two) aspiring science fiction/fantasy writers were looking for a serious critique and write-sharing group to join. We thought, hey, lots of people in Berkeley must love sci-fi...we just have to find them and get them in a cafe. The group is open to anyone who is writing in the genre or who enjoys it enough to read other people's writing and provide serious and supportive critique. What kind of writing? Screenplays, novels, short stories, YA...you name it. We share our writing …

Please join if you are interested in being an active participant in a book club focused **exclusively** on classic literature, shown on the following lists below, that has stood the test of time. If not interested exclusively in classic lit, if not willing to stick to selections from the lists below, there will not be a match with this group. The good news is tha …
We are writers seriously dedicated to the process and content of our writing. Some of us work professionally as writers (I'm a developmental editor) and also have different creative genres of writing that we are working on (novels, scripts, essays, memoirs, travel writing, and more). Others work in different professions but have writing projects they are deeply committed to. We also consider the publishing industry and marketing. As your organizer, I have many years in the publishing industry ( …

We also arrange social meets, group readings, meetings with agents and professionals, and brainstorm novel ways to raise money for charity. We also intend to publish a BEST …

Emotions WITHOUT Labels Using The ART OF DIALOGUE Announces: Whole -Hearted Women Seeking a Deeper Connections Are you a woman seeking greater meaning, inner peace and harmony in your life? Are you wondering when will it be my turn? What about me? Are you tired of playing the game of “perfectionism” and “keeping up with the Jones?” If could take a seat in the living room of your inner dialogue, what would I hear? I feel so alone. I feel odd or even “crazy”? Why did I do THAT? What are pe …
What: A book club for avid romance novel readers. Meetups not exclusively limited to book discussions. My hope is to get to know new people and building some new friendships (most of my friends are in Europe or scattered across the country). Who: Any avid romance novel reader with an open mind and a sense of humor. Confidence Builders towards Enlightenment: is a multi-disciplinary group that covers a range of diverse interest. The group meets and engages in a challenge each session. Let's be honest: writing is hard, and sometimes scary. Whether you're tackling a novel, a script, a memoir, or a short story, encouragement and positive feedback from other writers not only help you improve your work, but give you an incentive to keep going. You'll also learn a great deal from reading the work of other writers. I've been a writer for forty years, and have worked professionally as a journalist (the Contra Costa Times, and freelance for dozens of other publications), television co …

Poetry, short stories, plays, novels, history, philosophy, science, not necessarily in that order, classics that are worthy of discussion, current and past, western and non-western, these are the works we discuss. The discussion is what is most important. We discuss these works to enlarge our understanding of the ideas that shape our culture and gain a deeper appreciation for what it means to be human.
This club is intended for those in the Mountain View, Sunnyvale and Cupertino areas who love literary criticism for fiction and creative nonfiction. Each month we'll choose a book to read for the next month. The group will not focus on a single type of literary criticism, but rather on the range of appropriate types. In addition there will be a time during the meeting to express what you took away from reading the book. Depending on the venue for the meeting, we will have different restrictions …

So this year we are celebrating 60 years with 007. Sure, Skyfall is a great movie, but what about the books? We'll be reading Ian Fleming's books starting with Casino Royale. Sure we'll talk about the movies: George Lazenby et al but it'll be fun to actually read the original intents. The locales of these books run the gamut from Las Vegas to London to Istanbul to Jamaica to Mahe Island. Hopefully we can find bars/restaurants that correspond to the locales and rap.
A group dedicatd to reading James Joyce's Finnegans Wake. Sounds pretty straight forward right..... The plan, to read a few pages alone, come together, read them aloud and decipher together. If it sounds like fun, then join. If it sounds like hard work, but rewarding, then join. If you want to laugh at the rest of us, then join.....

Join us for a fascinating evening with author David R. Gillham, author of City of Women, a multi-layered novel that tackles life in World War II Berlin as Sigrid finds herself caught between what is right and what is wrong. Read more about the novel: Whom do you trust, whom do you love, and who can be saved? It is 1943--the height of the Second World War--and Berlin has essentially become a city of women. Sigrid Schroder is, for all intents and purposes, the model German soldier's wife: She …
