I started this meetup because all the other book clubs that I've attended did not eat, and although I love to read, I am equally a lover of food! We will meet roughly about once a month to discuss a book over a budget friendly dinner. We will try to vote on which books to read, so that we get to read different genre and hopefully cover material that everyone likes. What could be better than reading and enjoying a book that you would never have pick for yourself? If you love to read and love to …
It's time to take another look at some of those books we read (or pretended to read) in high school or college. If you went to high school in the 40s or 50s, you actually read books! Authors of fiction such as Dickens, Tolstoy, Camus, Kipling, and Elliott are some of the ones to re-consider. Then there's all that nonfiction, of course, especially the ones we were supposed to read in history, social studies, anthropology and philosophy classes. I've discovered that now, as a gray-haired grandma, …

We are a group of intellectual ladies who love to read and speak their minds over an evening of good food and wine. Our motto is to always keep an open mind, so we read books from all genres. We read fiction and non-fiction, classics, modern literature, historical fiction, fantasies, mysteries and many more. We meet once a month, usually on a Wednesday night, either at a member’s house or at a restaurant from 7:00 to around 9:30 pm. If you live in the Windermere area and are an avid reader who e …
This group is for anyone who loves to read and wants to have one day a month to talk about the book with other book lovers! We will talk, discuss, watch, and learn about every title we select to read. In addition to discussing books, we hold volunteers opportunities, social meetups, and more! Join us and meet new people who have the same passion you do!

Do you like to read and enjoy discussing books with others? Come join us at Helen Lehmann Library in the quaint, beautiful town of Montverde, FL. During the first meeting, we will discuss what types of books we would like to read and hopefully plan for the first three months of meetings. We could choose to focus on current best sellers, mysteries, young-adult fiction, historical fiction, literary, etc. It is "your" bookclub and we can mold it to fit our interests. The librarian will assist …

This group is for Jacksonville area ladies who are interested in books, beer, and meeting new people. Since the area draws a lot of new-in-towners, this is a great spot to not only explore a new brewery or restaurant venue, but also meet others who might be new in town or just looking to broaden their horizons. We will be selecting one book to read each month based on whichever gets the highest "votes" during each meeting and then select a place to meet for the next month. If you have any questi …
I recently watched the film version of Pride and Prejudice, and enjoyed it so much I started re-reading the book and watching other Austen movies, including Sense and Sensibility and the recent "The Jane Austen Book Club." I thought it might be fun to join up with other Austen fans in Jax, and perhaps structure a Book Club similar to the one in the film.
Leaving no page unturned, and no glass empty! A new twist on an old idea (a 'novel' concept, if you'll pardon the pun)...Book clubs and reading groups are great, but 'ABC Club' aims to shake those notions up just a bit. 'ABC Club' is for women only (sorry guys!) and meets at least once a month to hold a book discussion, and also to share in a yummy potluck gathering including appetizers (finger foods) and beverages (can be of the ‘adult’ variety, but doesn’t necessarily have to be). Books may b …
Hello! If you have found this group, you are obviously interested in composing some sort of speculative fiction. Our purpose is to help you improve your writing, provide support, and help you become a published author (if that is your goal). We meet twice a month, on the first and third Thursday of each month. Our meetings consist primarily of critiques, with occasional short presentations and speakers. Pieces to be critiqued are on a first-come first-serve volunteer basis. Pieces are limi …
