This is a book club I created after I left my beloved Pittsburgh Chick Lit Book club and moved to the great South! Listen up Fashionistas! If you love chick lit novels with a strong female protagonist, including chick lit, mommy lit and bride lit, this is the book club for you. New York or London- our girl characters take charge, get promoted and find love, all in 300 pages or less. Let's chat and swap our favorite titles on the last Monday of each month!
As a member of the Oprah Book Club 2.0, you can tweet, post, and all of that jazz, but if you want a little face-to-face contact as well, then this is the Club for you! We'll follow Oprah's picks and meet to discuss what we think and how we feel about what we've read. This is for bookworms who also want to get out and about! We can meet in our homes, at coffee houses, restaurants, it's all up to us!
We read a variety of interesting books and have good conversations, enjoy great food, and get to know others. All members contribute suggestions for books and restaurants, so no one is left out!
There are a lot of awesome books come from the Young Adult section of the library, and I know a lot of other adults read YA books and have nobody to dish about them with. There's a lot to dish! Dystopian futures, first loves and boarding schools - you can't go wrong. If you loved the Hunger Games, Princess Diaries, Sweet Valley Confidential, and all those other books that you want to put a paper bag book-cover on so nobody sees what you're reading, then you've found the right place! Bonus points …

Meet other local writers and let creativity bloom! Come to a Writers Meetup to review work, trade literary tips, make friends and have fun! All writers -- and should-be writers -- are welcome! Specific details This meetup formed, phoenix-like, out of the ashes of the Raleigh writer's group that had been in existence since June 2005, and which I began being moderator of in September 2006. Our format is to read our writings aloud at each meeting, each work read can be up to 10 pages, double-spac …

GONE FISHIN' -- This group closed in 2009 due to waning interest by the members. No new events will be scheduled. No new members will be accepted. After the final installment "HP and the Deathly Hallows" was published, most people simply lost their enthusiasm for the Potterverse. Someone else started another HP group in Winston-Salem in 2010, but it only had a few events. I have purged this group's membership list and have kept this site only for archive purposes. We had a GREAT time for 2 years …
