Ulysses is one of those books that, if you didn't read it in college, you're not likely to ever read it in adult life. So many of us who used to love reading books, maybe majored in English in college, now don't have the time to really read anymore. The purpose of this meetup is simple: Let's read Joyce's Ulysses, as a group, this winter/spring. We'll meet regularly, give ourselves motivation to read the book and discuss it, and get to check it off a list. I've read it twice in college so I can …
I propose we read a large selection of the novels in Balzac's La Comédie Humaine ( Human Comedy) series. Specifically, a few from each category Balzac identified in his grand but unfinished project: Etudes de Moeurs au XIXe siècle (Studies of Manners in the 19th Century) - including the various "Scène de la vie..." A book club to discuss (mostly) fiction books. Men & women of all ages welcome!
Although gay men now live in the everchanging digital age, few things compare to reading books the way we were taught. How relaxing is it to step away from the computer and lose yourself in a good novel, play or article? Enough blogging, men. Let's read. Let's discuss. Let's explore.

Hello my fabulous book club pals! For those of you who are new-or semi new-just be for warned we are mostly a social club. Yes, we discuss the book but its pretty darn casual. At least once a month, we vote on a graphic novel or trade paperback to read. Then we get together to discuss. It's just like a book club, but with comics!
From time to time, we'll also have other comic-related events to attend - movies, conventions, and anything else you can think of that might appeal to fans of sequential art.

My friend Katie and I started this club to honor the intellectual and the alcoholic in all of us. On the third Wednesday of every month we will meet up at a bar and discuss that month's selection. Pretty straight forward right? At the end of each meeting we will take suggestions for the next month's book and vote on the spot. The more the merrier btw, so bring along anyone you think would enjoy it :o)
