We are a group that is founded on the belief that books should be read for entertainment. We want to read and discuss upbeat, fantastic, quirky enjoyable books - not the latest downer tome handed down from Oprah. If you want to read funny, imaginative, quotable books and then rave about how they split your sides, fired you up, or give you weird dreams then this club is for you! Even if the books we end up reading aren't as fun and interesting as we hope - it's better to complain together over dr …
Every month we read the best book as chosen by our members. We then meet and discuss them. If the book we chose has been made in to a movie or a play, then we might schedule an additional meetup event. If you are fond of reading and would enjoy discussing books like Three Cups of Tea, The Help, and The Art of Racing in the Rain, we would love to have you as a member of our group.
Have you ever walked into Barnes & Noble and wanted to buy a book because it had a cool, interesting or pretty cover? Don't get me wrong, the book has to be interesting too, but I bet most of us have a stack of books at home with lovely covers and now we need some motivation to read them. This is the kind of book club where the discussion only gets rigorous if there was something interesting/relatable/discussable in the book. We don't have a list of questions to read from (although you are more …

I really like the Redmond Sci-Fi & Fantasy book club but thought there might be enough interest to justify a more local club. We will pick a different Sci-Fi or Fantasy book each month to read and discuss.
Do you like to read? Do you enjoy the New York Times best sellers? Would you like to meet new people? If so, this is the book club for you. I figured if it's a New York Times Bestseller, chances are it's pretty dang good. If you agree, consider giving this meet up a try? Except for May, we're currently planning to meet the 3rd Saturday of each month. When the 3rd Saturday is a holiday weekend, we'll probably move it up or back a week for the convenience of the people who travel on those lon …
The type of book club where you really just need an excuse for girl time. We will take turns choosing books and meet monthly to discuss the book and socialize. I am all for challenging my intellect, but sometimes I just want to have fun!

This group is for women who want to become better fiction writers. If you have a novel you are working on and would like to improve it, this is the place to get excellent feedback. This is not a drop-in critique group where you read whatever you have written to a bunch of strangers. It is for serious writers. The goal of this meet-up is to create an ongoing group of women writers that offer support and constructive suggestions regarding plot, dialogue, and character development. This is not …
Do you have ideas running through your mind all the time that you would like to put into a story that you might even be able to get published one day? Would you like to have others read your writing or listen to your ideas and give you feedback? Would you like to give feedback to other writers about their stories? If yes, then this is the group for you. Who knows, maybe we'll even make some friends in the process of improving our writing. That sure sounds good to me. We'll write for the first 45 …
This group is open to anyone interested in reading and discussing books that relate to feminism in some way – whether they are exploring the intersection of feminism and pop-culture (Bitch magazine-style), novels with feminist characters or themes, classics of the genre, or any book that lends itself to a good discussion from a feminist point of view. This is meant to be an inclusive group – anyone who identifies as feminist or wants to learn more is welcome! Once the group gets rolling, I hop …

The Kitsap County Writers Group currently holds monthly meetings in north Bremerton (subject to change as we grow). The goal of the group is to be a source of encouragement, motivation, constructive criticism and learning for local writers. The monthly meetings are split between discussion and writing exercises for the first half, followed by a writing feedback ("critique") session. Read the Message Board and Files for an idea of how our meetings work, what constitutes a "critique," tips on w …

This is a monthly book club devoted to the mystery novel. Welcome to our book group! Meetup.com is an online social networking portal that facilitates offline group meetings. We take that seriously and hope that if and when you join our community, we get to meet you soon after. If our group were to have a mission statement, it would probably be along the lines of, "Dedicated to legitimizing the mystery novel as a form of literature...while at the same time indulging in our passion!" About u …
… Don't believe what you may have seen in the news or read in a novel or heard on the subway -- you CAN lead a healthy, happy, successful life as a person diagnosed with Bipolar - many have before you! To quote a member that phrased it quite nicely, "Bipolar computer programmers, med school students, artists, bicyclists, photographers, nannies, movie directors, sales people, wall street executives, construction workers, small business owners, the list goes on and I’ve met them all. Each of us are …
This is a group where writers of longer pieces can get feedback, make friends and find connections. Maybe you'll find a few compatible writers and start your own group, or maybe you'll find someone who's willing to trade your novel for theirs... Everybody's welcome, even if you didn't write anything this month. We typically meet on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays of the month at the Chocolati Cafe, Greenwood Ave N, Seattle. We limit attendance to 10 or 12, though, to ensure everyone can give and recei …
