20 Meetup Groups match “Novel Reading” near Kent, WA
We are a group that is founded on the belief that books should be read for entertainment. We want to read and discuss upbeat, fantastic, quirky enjoyable books - not the latest downer tome handed down from Oprah. If you want to read funny, imaginative, quotable books and then rave about how they split your sides, fired you up, or give you weird dreams then this club is for you! Even if the books we end up reading aren't as fun and interesting as we hope - it's better to complain together over dr …
We want to form a different book club, one that wants to know what you are reading and why. Instead of everyone reading the same book, we'd love to meet once a month to discuss what you chose to read. We'd love to do this over happy hour!
Meetup details are available only to members.
The West Seattle Mommies Happy Hour Book Club is for moms who appreciate a good read and who are seeking some stimulating conversation with likeminded ladies. Each month, group members nominate books and the group votes on which book sounds best. Monthly meetings take place on the last Thursday of the month at a local West Seattle establishment during happy hour. The group motivates moms to read recently published novels and stay in sync with the modern literary world. It also helps moms con …
Have you ever seen a movie preview and thought about reading the book? Quite often I find myself inspired to read a book before watching the movie. This is a group is for people interested in joining a fun group of readers for a discussion over drinks and then going to the theater to watch the movie! Come and join the fun! Good books, good movies, and good people!
Every month we read the best book as chosen by our members. We then meet and discuss them. If the book we chose has been made in to a movie or a play, then we might schedule an additional meetup event. If you are fond of reading and would enjoy discussing books like Three Cups of Tea, The Help, and The Art of Racing in the Rain, we would love to have you as a member of our group.
Get together with other Gig Harbor area readers who enjoy discussing their latest read book. You can be part of the planning process in choosing the next books to read. Full Moon Art Gallery will host the Book Club Meetings and provide free coffee and tea - members are welcome to bring other beverages. Meetings will take place on the 3rd Wednesday of each month from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.
This is a group for meeting to discuss books, preferably in small groups. Anyone can set up an event by choosing the book, a location, and the size they want their group to be. It can be any size but it must be designated it at the start. That way, someone who wants a small group doesn't sign up for a book then end up in a room with 25 other people. The possibilities are endless - a light hearted discussion of a novel with a glass of wine, a serious discussion of a classic over pizza, a dis …

Have you ever walked into Barnes & Noble and wanted to buy a book because it had a cool, interesting or pretty cover? Don't get me wrong, the book has to be interesting too, but I bet most of us have a stack of books at home with lovely covers and now we need some motivation to read them. This is the kind of book club where the discussion only gets rigorous if there was something interesting/relatable/discussable in the book. We don't have a list of questions to read from (although you are more …

I really like the Redmond Sci-Fi & Fantasy book club but thought there might be enough interest to justify a more local club. We will pick a different Sci-Fi or Fantasy book each month to read and discuss.
Do you like to read? Do you enjoy the New York Times best sellers? Would you like to meet new people? If so, this is the book club for you. I figured if it's a New York Times Bestseller, chances are it's pretty dang good. If you agree, consider giving this meet up a try? Except for May, we're currently planning to meet the 3rd Saturday of each month. When the 3rd Saturday is a holiday weekend, we'll probably move it up or back a week for the convenience of the people who travel on those long …
The type of book club where you really just need an excuse for girl time. We will take turns choosing books and meet monthly to discuss the book and socialize. I am all for challenging my intellect, but sometimes I just want to have fun!
Let's talk about chick lit.! Background, what is this genre about? Chick Lit. is written by women, for women "Chick lit is smart, fun fiction for and/or about women of all ages. Story lines often revolve around jobs, children, motherhood, romance, fame, living in the ‘big city’, friendship, dieting and much more, usually with a touch of humor thrown in. Many of these books are written from a first-person viewpoint, making them a bit more personal and realistic. The plots can range from being v …

This group is open to anyone interested in reading and discussing books that relate to feminism in some way – whether they are exploring the intersection of feminism and pop-culture (Bitch magazine-style), novels with feminist characters or themes, classics of the genre, or any book that lends itself to a good discussion from a feminist point of view. This is meant to be an inclusive group – anyone who identifies as feminist or wants to learn more is welcome! We generally try to read one book pe …
Hey Girl, I know you, you are not the girliest girl who ever was, in fact those girls tend to drive you a little nutty. You're smart, creative, and ambitious. Your interests may be in fashion design, but they may just as easily be in technology or finance. You're awesome and you know it! Maybe you're also a little embarrassed that yeah, you want to see that chick flick. Or the best book you've read this month was a trashy romance novel! Let's stop being embarrassed that we like our lady time! Le …
Do you have ideas running through your mind all the time that you would like to put into a story that you might even be able to get published one day? Would you like to have others read your writing or listen to your ideas and give you feedback? Would you like to give feedback to other writers about their stories? If yes, then this is the group for you. Who knows, maybe we'll even make some friends in the process of improving our writing. That sure sounds good to me. We'll write for the first 45 …

This group is for women who want to become better fiction writers. If you have a novel you are working on and would like to improve it, this is the place to get excellent feedback. This is not a drop-in critique group where you read whatever you have written to a bunch of strangers. It is for serious writers. The goal of this meet-up is to create an ongoing group of women writers that offer support and constructive suggestions regarding plot, dialogue, and character development. This is not a …

I'm an avid reader! I love reading romance novels! My passion is romances that have interracial (I/R), Multicultural M/C), african american (AA) themes. It doesn't matters whether they are comtemporary, scf-fi, paranormal, shifters, vampires, sensual, mystery, suspense, as long as there's a journey to a happy ending. (HEA) I'm looking for like minded people interested in reading and discussion these books in a positive book club environment. The idea is to meet up once a month, share our thought …
Meet with local people who have been diagnosed with, or think they may have, or believe they have, bipolar disorder (aka manic depression) for discussion, information, and support. This group is also open to people who want to know more about the disorder (ie, those with family or friends who have it) so they can learn more about it and how to support them better. It's always great to see (for example) a boyfriend or wife at group. As the "headline" says, please attend this group twice before fo …
This is a monthly book club devoted to the mystery novel. Welcome to our book group! Meetup.com is an online social networking portal that facilitates offline group meetings. We take that seriously and hope that if and when you join our community, we get to meet you soon after. If our group were to have a mission statement, it would probably be along the lines of, "Dedicated to legitimizing the mystery novel as a form of literature...while at the same time indulging in our passion!" About us: …
